Frequently Asked Questions

  • The first session is really about getting to know you. I’ll ask about your background, what brings you to therapy, your goals, and a bit about your background. It’s also an opportunity for you to share what’s most important to you and what you hope to get out of our work together. By the end, we’ll have a clearer picture of how therapy can support you and a plan for moving forward at a pace that feels comfortable.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes. Most people start by meeting weekly to build momentum and trust, but we can adjust depending on your preference and schedule.

  • My standard fee is $140 for a 50-minute individual session. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots to make therapy more accessible. Please reach out if cost is a concern, and we can talk about options.

I don’t accept insurance, but I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Every plan is different, so I recommend calling your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

  • Sessions canceled with less than 48 hour notice may be charged the full fee. I understand emergencies happen, and I encourage you to reach out if something unexpected comes up.

  • I don’t accept insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I also offer some sliding scale options.

  • Yes. What we talk about in therapy is private and confidential. This means I will not share what you say with anyone else without your permission. The only exceptions are rare situations where I’m legally required to break confidentiality to keep you or someone else safe.

For teenagers and adolescents, therapy is also confidential, which helps create a safe space to talk openly. I do keep parents updated on general progress and may share strategies or themes we’re working on, but the details of what a teen shares in session stay private. If I ever believe it’s important to share something specific with a parent or caregiver, I’ll discuss it with the teen first so we can decide together how to approach it.

  • That really depends on your goals. Some clients come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term therapy for deeper growth and self-understanding. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy feels helpful and aligned with your needs.

  • Feeling nervous is completely normal. Beginning therapy can feel like a big step. My job is to make the process as comfortable as possible and to move at a pace that feels right for you.
